For children 4 and under, the following rack mounted seats are compatible:
Thule Yepp Nexxt Maxi
Thule Yepp Nexxt 2 Maxi
Thule Yepp 2 Maxi
Burley Dash
Hamax Caress
Polisport Guppy

For each of these brands, make sure you are choosing the rack mount option. Frame mounted seats and older seats like the Yepp Maxi Easy Fit will not be compatible with the rear rack on our current bikes.
The compatible seats attache to your Xtracycle all-in-one rear rack by clamping onto the deck. When you turn the dark grey knob, the black curved clamps under the seat tighten until they securely grab onto the deck.
Swoop, Stoker, Classic (non-electric / Bosch), Leap
Any older Xtracycle with an LT1 version 2 FlightDeck or LT2 FlightDeck
For children 4 and under, the following rack mounted seats are compatible with the LT1 version 2 FlightDeck or the LT2 FlightDeck (with Xtracycle Yepp adapter):
Thule Yepp Maxi Easy Fit
The maximum child weight for this seat is 40 lbs.
Here is what the Thule Yepp Maxi Easy Fit looks like along with the other Yepp seats that are not compatible with these bikes.
The Thule Yepp Maxi Easy Fit attaches to your Xtracycle LT1 version 2 or LT2 FlightDeck (with Xtracycle Yepp adapters) by sliding into a port cut into the deck and the clamping plate expanding underneath the deck to fit into the port. When you turn the light grey knob, the black mounting plate (shown by the yellow arrow) expands to fit into the port.
Can your Xtracycle deck have a Thule Yepp Maxi installed on it? Not sure what deck you have? This article should help.
Do I need an adapter for my deck to have a Thule Yepp Maxi installed?
The only deck that is Yepp seat compatible that requires an adapter is the LT2 deck. All other decks that are Yepp seat compatible do not require an adapter.
Where on the deck should I install my toddler seat?
The key to keeping a long tail cargo bike balanced is to center the weight by having the heaviest cargo and passengers sitting closest to the rider. For this reason, here are our recommendations for toddler seat placement on the deck:
One child in a toddler seat, no other children on the deck | Install the toddler seat in the front position, closest to the rider |
One child in a toddler seat, an older child or adult riding on the deck | Install the toddler seat in the rear position so the heavier passenger is closest to the rider |
Two children in toddler seats | Have the heavier child ride in the toddler seat closest to the rider |
If you sometimes ride with just one child in a toddler seat but might need to carry an older child or adult every now and again, we recommend having your deck able to have a toddler seat moved into either the front or rear position. When that toddler port is not in use, the hole and or adapter (on older decks) can be covered with a MagicCarpet and the deck will be comfortable enough to accommodate a passenger riding on top.
An important note about Yepp seats in the front position.
You may have noticed that the LT2 FlightDeck is tapered, being wider in the front and tapering to be more narrow in the back. Because of the this, when the Yepp seat is installed in the front position on this deck, the fit is pretty tight and the seat is not as easy to slide onto the deck as it is in the rear position. When fully installed, the Yepp leg holds bow out ever so slightly. This is normal and how the seat fits in that position. This does not effect the functionality of your Yepp seat in any way. To more easily get the seat to install into the front position, we recommend sliding it over the deck further back on the deck. Then start slowly sliding it forward on the deck until you can fit it into the port or Yepp adapter.
